Our Trust
The Kindu Trust is a UK based charity (Registered charity no. 1069574), which was established in 1998 by Kate Fereday Eshete, an English woman from Plymouth, to help young people in Ethiopia.
Since then the organisation has grown and it now acts as a life-line to many in Ethiopia, with a dedicated team in the north of the country working to carry out and continue the good work that Kate started all those years ago. Read more about the history of The Kindu Trust.
The Trust is run by a team of volunteer trustees in the UK and is a registered charity in the UK.
Our Supporters
The Kindu Trust is reliant on the financial support we receive from our generous sponsors and supporters.
We would like to take this opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to all of you, our supporters, who are so generously sponsoring children, sending donations or volunteering your time in order to make the Kindu Trust the success it is today.
With your help we will continue to CHANGE LIVES in Ethiopia!
Small beginnings
As she watched the news in her home in Devon in December 1994, Kate Fereday Eshete saw footage of children suffering in Ethiopia that was to change her life, and the lives of many young people in that poverty-striken country.
Many of us watch the news and feel helpless. Kate watched the news and within days was on a plane to Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa. She was soon helping young orphans and hungry children who lived on the street.
Kate spent the next few years travelling between Ethiopia and the UK, raising funds and gaining crucial knowledge of the local culture and issues. The Kindu Trust was established in 1998, and is a leading charity in the northern Ethiopian town of Gondar. It is named after Kindu, the orphan boy Kate first met who was living on the street, filthy, lice-ridden and wearing rags, who motivated Kate into action.
It's easy to give to a child in Ethiopia. It's easy to make a difference. You can do this for just over 50p a day by clicking the sponsor button.
